Mayor Hiremath Declares "State Of Emergency"


The Town of Oro Valley and The Golder Ranch Fire District will open a unified command post ahead of the arrival today of tropical storm Odille.

They will activate the post on at 6 p.m. this evening at the Oro Valley Emergency Operations Center (Oro Valley Police Department Tangerine Substation, 1920 E. Tangerine Road at Oro Valley Marketplace).  According to a press release last evening, the two agencies will coordinate resources to manage emergency situations, media requests and volunteer support.

Wednesday evening's Town Council meeting has been cancelled, and the Oro Valley Town Hall administrative offices will close at 3 p.m.

Sand bags are available to residents of Oro Valley and the Golder Ranch Fire District. Supplies are limited. They can be picked up beginning starting at 8:30 a.m. today at one of two locations:
  • 355 E. Linda Vista Blvd.  
  • 3835 E. Golder Ranch Road 
Quantities per person may be limited, and the bags are very heavy.
